ABOUT

Susan is the Principal of Jakobson Consulting & Analytics. As a Certified Psychological Health and Safety Advisor, she works with employers to develop psychologically healthy and safe workplaces supported by customized mental health strategies. Susan is able to balance the business imperative with workplace health to provide practical and realistic approaches to support employees to be at their best. Susan is the lead trainer for the Canadian Standards Association for the National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace and is able to customize the requirements of the Standard to any workplace.

 

As a consultant to the Mental Health Commission of Canada and the Canadian Standards Association, Susan has been integral to the development of a new National Standard of Canada – Mental health and well-being of post-secondary students. She is able to leverage her experience in psychological health and safety in the workplace and apply to post-secondary institutions who are looking towards aligning with the new student standard.

 

Most recently, Susan has been working with Canadian Standards Association (CSA) to develop a new National Standard of Canada - Mental health and well-being in long term care and assisted living settings.

Mary Ann Baynton, MSW

As a workplace relations specialist Mary Ann supports employers, governments, organizations, unions, teams and associations that wish to resolve issues involving mental health, psychological safety, conflict or performance concerns. She helps improve working lives while supporting organizational excellence.

Mary Ann served as co-chair of the Technical Committee for the National Standard of Canada on Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace, was a member of the Mental Health Commission of Canada’s Workforce Advisory Committee, and a member of the Employment Standards Committee for the AODA.

Mary Ann also proudly serves as the Director of Strategy and Collaboration for Canada Life’s Workplace Strategies for Mental Health which provides free, practical ideas, tools and resources to help with the prevention, intervention and management of workplace mental health issues.

Dr. Joti Samra

Dr. Joti Samra, R.Psych. is a national thought leader on issues relating to psychological health, wellness and resilience. She is the CEO & Founder of MyWorkplaceHealth, a full-suite national workplace consulting firm and the Psychological Health & Safety (PH&S) Clinic, a virtual counselling and resilience/leadership coaching practice.

Dr. Samra is a highly-regarded expert in psychological health and safety (PH&S). Over the past two decades, she has been involved in numerous national initiatives that have contributed to policy change in Canada, and is a Founding & Ongoing Member of the CSA Technical Committee that developed the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health & Safety in the Workplace (CAN/CSA-Z1003-13/BNQ9700-803/2013). This Standard is the first of its kind in the world, and has shaped policy development for workplace PH&S at the international ISO level.

Dr. Samra is the lead Research Scientist who created Guarding Minds at Work: A Workplace Guide to Psychological Health & Safety, in which the psychosocial factor frame adopted by the Standard was developed. She is also the developer of the Psychologically Safe Leader Assessment, an assessment and action planning resource that aligns leaders’ skills with the requirements of the Standard.

Dr. Sandra Moll

Sandra Moll is an Occupational Therapist and Associate Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Science.  Her clinical and research expertise is in the area of mental health, building on over a decade of frontline clinical work and over two decades of applied research.  Her primary program of research focuses on mental health, along the continuum from mental health promotion to intervention and return to work, including young workers, students, healthcare providers and first responders.  She is interested in e-mental health initiatives, co-design approaches, education and counselling interventions, and advocacy for mental health policy change. Sandra and Susan have collaborated for the past 8 years on the evidence based program, “Beyond Silence” intended to decrease stigma, increase mental health literacy and increase outreach behaviour for front line health care workers. This program has evolved into the "Beyond Silence" app that offers a peer based approach for support.

Sarah Jenner

Sarah Jenner is the Executive Director of Mindful Employer Canada and Principal of Sarah Jenner Consulting. She is a workplace mental health aficionado who strives to continually support people leaders across Canada to feel confident and competent addressing workplace issues. Sarah has engaged hundreds of people leaders across Canada in conversations about how they can improve workplace mental health in a way that upholds the dignity and respect of everyone involved, while also ensuring job expectations are being met. Sarah also works with leaders to help them dig deeper into what kind of leader they want to be, and what they can do to attain these goals while supporting their own mental health

Jordan Friesen

Jordan is a results-driven leader with many years experience leading national initiatives focused on corporate mental health within Canada’s non-profit sector. Since leaving the non-profit world, he uses his skills as a consultant to assist organizations who want to take progressive action to support the mental health of their workforce as a competitive advantage and business imperative for the future of work. He does this by identify and leveraging existing strengths, building consensus across stakeholders, and identifying practical, tangible actions that will engage all levels of the organization.

In addition to consulting, Jordan has experience in training, education, mentorship, public speaking and research. He prides himself on being able to distill complex ideas into actionable insights for a wide range of audience from executives to students. He is a sought-after subject matter expert on workplace mental health and has been featured in a range of national media coverage.

Jordan’s education includes a Master of Occupational Therapy from the University of Manitoba. He is a CMHA Certified Psychological Health and Safety Advisor and is certified by Multi-Health Systems Inc. to deliver and interpret their EQi 2.0 suite of emotional assessment tools for leaders.

Jacqueline Denomey

As a Learner Experience Designer and LMS Specialist, Jacqueline offers both technical support and advisory services for our eLearning programs and virtual offerings. Her creative and user friendly approach to learning makes educational development a pleasure for the client and valuable to the learner.

Erik Jakobson

As a Communications Specialist, develops educational materials and provides editorial services. His ability to use plain language results in products that are clear, concise, well-organized, and follows best practices to support the intended audience.
